Yesterday I was interviewed for the Rochester Post-Bulletin, my first official interview of the upcoming book tour. I had a great conversation with Tom Weber about Mesabi Pioneers and about the history of the Mesabi Iron Range. Tomorrow I board a plane bound for Minnesota. I feel a little like Arthur Maki when he got on that train out of Tower to begin a journey into the dense forest of northern Minnesota. I am nervous but excited to start this crazy adventure, to meet new people, and to get the word out about the book.
Tom mentioned that it looks like snow in Duluth this weekend. The forecast calls for some precipitation on Friday, and again on Monday and into Tuesday. With temperatures all the way up to 50F. That’s a far cry from Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where it’s been a balmy 70F and last Sunday I took a dip in the ocean. I guess I’ll take those shorts out of my suitcase. I know it’s not the dead of winter, but it’s a cold I’m not used to experiencing in October.
I’ll be at the Barnes & Noble in the Apache Mall in Rochester on October 9th at 5pm. See you there!
